When purchasing a first home, one should consider one’s future self.
This is one sound advice young couple Marvi Dimabuyu and Nicole Honrado-Dimabuyu gladly heeded when they were still looking for a place where they could live after they got married in 2017.
Nicole related that she and her fiancé were still planning their wedding when they decided to look for a place that they can call their own. They both grew up in Quezon City—Nicole was then living at Barangay Santol, and Marvi resided in the Commonwealth Avenue area.
They went around the neighborhood to look for a place they can consider their home. One day, their friends suggested that they checked this property that will rise along Scout Tuason Avenue, Barangay Obrero, Quezon City. The property’s name was Viera Residences, a project of DMCI Homes.
Located in Scout Tuason Avenue, Brgy. Obrero, Quezon City, the young couple immediately liked the idea of living near Tomas Morato Avenue, which is an old favorite leisure spot in the former Philippine capital.
Although she and her husband have to travel to BGC and Manila for work, Nicole is convinced Viera Residences’ location is perfect for her family.
“It’s around Tomas Morato,” she noted. “Malapit sa hospital, schools. And mahilig kumain ang family namin,” she said of the area which has been known for its restaurants row, way before food strips became a huge trend in the metro.
At First Sight
Nicole could easily admit that she and her then-fiancé immediately loved what they saw when they viewed the model units. “On the day na pumunta kami to view the unit, nag-reserve na kami agad,” Nicole recalled. At the time, it was sold at pre-selling price. “Ibang-iba siya sa other developers ng condo.”
She admitted that they have heard of DMCI Homes projects before, but weren’t keen on getting a property, until they were ready to get married. “Pag medyo younger ka pa, di mo pa iisipin kung saan ka titira. Nu’ng nag-plan na kaming mag-settle-down, saka kami naging serious na maghanap ng matitirhan na okey for us—factors such as location and price.”
Nicole remembered how eager they were to immediately reserve a unit and good thing they yielded to their wishes. “Ang lobby, presko. Maganda ’yong design and architecture. Hindi lang siya basta building na may walls and doors.”
“Gusto namin overall ‘yong property ng DMCI,” she continued. She mentioned that what got her attention were the architecture, the size of the units and how it was structured, lobby, receiving area, roof deck, amenities, and security.
The Love of Their Life
But what really convinced Nicole that they made the right purchase was when she gave birth to their first baby, Ethan James, a year ago.
She said the structure of the building couldn’t be more perfect for their newborn: “Paglabas mo, may atrium. Presko, maluwag, malaki ang hallway at ang dadaanan. Important sa amin na hindi mainit ‘paglabas, lalo pag summer. Dito kasi paglabas mo, mahangin. Important ’yon kasi kapag may baby, irritable sila pag mainit.”
Nicole also liked the overall feel of the place: “Pagpasok pa lang, maganda na sa mata. Ang daming amenities. Parang community.”
Their favorite among the number of amenities are the pool, the roof deck, and the lobby. She shared that her husband uses the lap pool and the gym almost every day to stay fit. “Mahilig kaming mag-swimming, so malaking bagay na may swimming pool,” she said.
The roof deck is where they get to watch the sunset, the sunrise, and the hustle and bustle of the busy Quezon City.
Then there’s the lobby, which she said makes her feel like she’s not in the city at all: “Yung feeling na papasok ka ng resort. Hindi lang siya building. Para kang pupunta sa resort. Every night, uuwi ka sa resort. Presko, komportable ’yong mga upuan.”
In fact, one of Nicole’s most memorable moments in their home since May 2018, happened during her maternity shoot.
“Maganda ’yong photos kasi ginamit na background ’yong architectural designs ng DMCI sa lobby. Kahit ’yong photos sa unit, maganda kasi maganda ang lighting, kasi malaki ’yong bintana, malaki ’yong pinto.”
Thus, with certainty, Nicole said they have definitely found the best home for their young family.
“Home is a place where you can rest and relax after a hard day’s work. Pagod kami every day, kaya gusto namin, pag-uwi namin, makakapahinga talaga kami nang mabuti. Very comfy dito. Sa umaga, hindi gano’n kainit. Paglabas, presko. Tahimik din. And 24/7 ’yong security, so wala kami masyadong iisipin pagdating sa safety ng aming family.”
More importantly, they got an ideal home to raise their baby.
“Kapag weekdays, ’yung baby namin namamasyal sa roof deck or sa lobby. Weekends, sa pool kami. Kahit mag-stay lang kami sa bahay buong araw, it’s okay,” Nicole beamed.
