RideShare: DMCI Homes’ Carpool Service Helps Condo Residents Commute and Reduce Traffic
By carpooling, DMCI Homes condo residents foster a sense of community while also helping to ease traffic congestion.
Home to over 13 million people, the National Capital Region (NCR) has become synonymous with heavy traffic congestion. According to ResearchGate, the region’s daytime population can even reach 16 million, as workers and students from nearby provinces flock to the capital. In 2023, Metro Manila was hailed as having the world’s worst traffic problem based on the TomTom Traffic Index, which compared average travel times across 387 metro areas worldwide.
Amid these mobility challenges, DMCI Homes introduced an innovative commuting solution designed exclusively for its condominium residents—RideShare—an in-app service accessible through the DMCI Communities mobile app. As the first shuttle-based, multi-point booking systems developed by a real estate company in the Philippines, RideShare reimagines community mobility through data-driven strategy, agile development, and customer-first design.
A Smarter, Greener Way to Move
Developed in partnership with marketing agency Propelrr to help address the rising costs of fuel and worsening traffic congestion, RideShare promotes community-based carpooling among residents of DMCI Homes’ condominium communities.
Launched in November 2022 in Acacia Estates, Taguig City, the service has since expanded to other developments, including Brixton Place, Fairlane Residences, Lumiere Residences, Prisma Residences, Sheridan Towers, Allegra Garden Place, Kai Garden Residences, and Dansalan Gardens Condominiums, with more communities soon joining the network.
Since its debut, the program has already logged over 140,000 bookings, helping residents conveniently reach destinations such as Uptown Mall, The Mind Museum, Bonifacio High Street, SM Aura, Market! Market!, and other prime areas in Bonifacio Global City. Through designated pick-up and drop-off points, residents enjoy efficient and stress-free commutes right from their community.

Predictability, Convenience, and Sustainability
Arnold Romero, a resident who once joined a ride-sharing campaign in the early 2000s, immediately supported the initiative.
“I'm actively also promoting ridesharing to beat traffic because each car owner is traffic and we should take every chance not to be part of the traffic situation,” Arnold says, adding that sometimes he also uses RideShare to go to nearby districts to meet with friends.
Since using the app, he finds three factors that make him love it: “One is predictability. It means that my travel can be scheduled ahead, and there's no room for delays because RideShare is on the dot. Two is convenience, because you don't have to wait for hours. It doesn't make me wait or line up: It's always there when you need it. And number three is the ecological footprint that we leave. We minimize our contribution to air pollution and congestion when we don’t take cars around.”
The fixed pricing is another plus, says Arnold. Unlike most ride-hailing apps, RideShare fares remain steady regardless of rush hour, weather, or time of day, helping residents save on transportation costs. “I recommend other residents to avail of the ride-sharing services of Prisma Residences,” Arnold says. “It will make your travel easier, especially if you are regularly using the transportation for work, and you can save on fuel expenses and parking expenses, compared to if you bring a car or if you travel with commercial transport services. Prisma Residences’ ridesharing is cheaper and more convenient.”
For Arnold, the broader impact of such an initiative goes beyond convenience. “Imagine how many people live in a high-rise condo, and how many vehicles are added on the road. So, to reduce the impact of the congestion, and to minimize the use of private transportation, let’s promote the use of RideShare.”
Forward-Thinking Community Mobility Solution
The success of the program has not gone unnoticed. In 2024, RideShare received the Gold Award for Innovation in Transportation & Logistics at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, recognizing it as a forward-thinking community mobility solution.

The initiative has also earned praise from transportation experts. Dr. Jose Regin Regidor, Research Fellow at the University of the Philippines–National Center for Transportation Studies and Director of the UP Institute of Civil Engineering, commends DMCI Homes’ efforts to integrate shared mobility within residential communities.
“Ridesharing or carpooling is a big help in reducing the number of vehicles on the road,” said Dr. Regidor. Offering a ride-sharing service within residential communities, he explained, makes it possible to ferry multiple passengers in one go, helping ease congestion while improving quality of life.
“This would significantly help reduce the number of vehicles on the road, shorten travel times, and improve our overall quality of life when it comes to commuting,” he said. “Instead of having one person per car, people share a ride. For example, in a van or shuttle, maybe eight or even 16 people can share a ride. If they’re headed to a common destination, like BGC or Makati, we can reduce traffic by having them travel together in one vehicle.”
Dr. Regidor cites DMCI Homes’ RideShare Program as a good example for other developers to follow. “The ridesharing service promoted and provided by DMCI Homes helps residents by alleviating the daily experience of traffic congestion. By using this service (RideShare), we can reduce the stress that comes with traveling, and it also means we don’t have to drive our own vehicles as often,” he said. “It would be great if other communities, condominiums, and buildings with residents who share common destinations, such as workplaces or their children's schools, could engage in this kind of ridesharing.”
Building Connected Communities
For Dr. Regidor, the initiative offers a simple yet meaningful solution to urban traffic while improving residents’ well-being. More than just a way to get around, the RideShare Program strengthens communities by bringing neighbors together, reducing stress from commuting, and promoting environmental awareness.
As more DMCI Homes communities adopt RideShare, the program stands as a model of how smart, community-driven mobility can make city living more sustainable, connected, and convenient for everyone.
