Couple finds ‘home away from home’ in the middle of Manila

Torre De Manila | March 7, 2023

Rona is happy to have found a home in the DMCI Homes’ Art Deco-inspired condo community.

Rona Jane Savedra and her husband have been working abroad for around 16 years. During that time, they tried to come home, as much as possible, to a one-bedroom apartment.

The space was enough for them then since they didn’t have to stay for long periods of time. However, when the pandemic struck, they realized that if they got to come back to the Philippines, they’d be staying longer. That’s when they decided to search for a bigger space.

“Sa amin kasi noon, ’yong pauwi-uwi lang, gano’n, pabakasyon-bakasyon, so ’yong three-bedroom unit, malaki para sa amin,” Rona says. “So, sabi ng husband ko, ‘What if maging retirement home na din natin?’” Rona agreed.

The couple thought that a retirement home should mean a place where their family members could stay whenever they want to. Immediately, they then began looking for a unit. DMCI Homes was at the top of their list.

Trustworthy company

First, because they and some of their family members already have units at other DMCI Homes condominiums. Second, she says that DMCI Homes is a trustworthy company: “Ni-research din ng husband ko, sabi niya magandang investment opportunity kasi kumbaga ’yong name nila is aalagaan nila at hindi nila pababayaan ’yong mga unit na mag-devalue ’yong property.”

Along the way, they come across Torre de Manila, a high-rise residential DMCI Homes condo located along Taft Avenue, Manila.

The location for them was perfect. It’s near the tourist spots and it’s also near the United States Embassy (Rona’s husband now works in the United States).

Rona says what she likes the most about DMCI Homes condos is their homey ambiance. “Kapag umuuwi ako dito, I feel like I’m at home."

“’Yong transportation is convenient: for example, gusto mo pumunta sa ibang lugar and ma-traffic, may choice ka na mag-train, so nag-train din ako from here to Quezon City,” Rona recalls, adding, “Pinakana-sold din si mister sa penthouse. ’Yong nakita niya, sabi niya, super laki niyan para sa atin. ’Tapos sabi niya, kapag magkakape ka sa umaga, akyat ka lang sa roof deck, 360-degree ang view.”

The couple also liked the fact that the layout of the unit could give the dwellers privacy in their own space. Plus, the hallway is spacious.

‘A good community to live in’

But most of all, she and her husband love the DMCI Homes community. When they were still living at another DMCI Homes property, she observed that the community valued family and relationships. She even saw a Christmas program that involved not just the Torre de Manila residents, but also other DMCI Homes condo communities. She and her family were also able to join Halloween celebrations, Zumba classes, basketball games, and activities for children and even pets.

“It’s like our home away from home,” Rona concludes. “Kasi feeling ko kapag umuuwi ako, parang probinsya na kilala mo ’yong kapitbahay mo. And very safe din para sa mga bata kasi maiiwan mo sila.”

She adds that she has already recommended DMCI Homes to her family and friends, saying that apart from the amenities and services, it’s a relaxing place to live. “Kapag umuuwi ako sa hapon, pagod na pagod na ako, ang ginagawa ko lang, umuupo ako sa may swimming pool area,” she reveals. “Naririnig ko ’yong mga ibon.” After sitting there for a few hours to destress, she goes up to their unit and finds herself refreshed.

“The view of the house itself is very welcoming kasi ’yong layout din niya, napakaganda. I hope na ’yong mga home seekers din, bigyan nila ng chance na makita nila ang ino-offer ng DMCI Homes.”
