Residing in a gated subdivision has its own advantages but condominium living is becoming a popular choice for many urban dwellers nowadays for a number of reasons.
Rain or Shine Elasto Painters assistant team manager Jay Legacion and his family for one moved into a two-bedroom unit in DMCI Homes' Arista Place in JP Rizal Street, Barangay Sto. Nino, Parañaque early last year even if they have a house in nearby Barangay Tambo in the same city.
In an interview, the 43-year-old father of two shared five reasons why they decided to embrace vertical living in DMCI Homes' Asian Tropical-themed condominium community.
Security
"The best thing is security. I think the primary reason why people are shifting to condominiums is security," Legacion said.
He even recalled an instance when his brother was barred from entering the Arista Place compound because security guards were not advised of the visit.
"My brother called me up complaining that he is being denied entry. I told him that he should understand that it’s for our own welfare,” Legacion said.
“I actually like what happened. It’s not because I don't like him here but because I know that me and my family are secured here. I did that to my brother and he got mad at me," he giggled.
When it comes to security, living in a gated subdivision or a condominium is almost the same but there have been some instances when robbers were able to break through the perimeter fence of gated villages, Legacion pointed out.
"You cannot
do that in a condominium like this," he said.
Convenience
Another advantage is the convenience brought about by the condominium's proximity to public transportation, business centers and educational institutions.
"The
location is excellent especially here in Arista Place which is near the
airport. I travel a lot so it's very convenient. My daughters are also studying
near this place so it's so convenient for us to be here," he noted.
Amenities
Arista Place’s having resort-inspired amenities is another factor that convinced him to embrace condominium living according to the two-time Philippine Basketball Association champion.
"We have pools, we have a clubhouse. We have an indoor badminton court. We have a basketball court. We also have function rooms, gym, etc.," Legacion said of some condominium amenities that may be too expensive to put up in one’s own house.
Ease of living
With a Property Management Office (PMO) that manages day to day operations of the condominium community, living in Arista Place has been a bliss according to Legacion.
"People are very accommodating especially the PMO and the security guards. Like in a village, we also have a garden and other facilities but we don't have to worry about the maintenance part," Legacion said.
Perfect escape
As the one on top of the Elasto Painters day to day basketball operations, Legacion could only look forward to a quiet retreat after a long day in the office.
But he could not do so in his house in Tambo where he keeps 567 dogs being in the dog breeding business.
"Imagine how many dogs do I have? I have a pet shop in Cartimar and Tiendesitas. I have six rooms full of dogs. So I want a quiet environment because I have a lot of 'fans' who are barking at me whenever I go home in our house," he said, chuckling.
