DMCI Homes Employees Extend Support to Children’s Shelter of Cebu

DMCI Homes representatives turn over essential goods and hygiene products to the Children’s Shelter of Cebu. DMCI Homes Cebu Business Unit Head Riza Siasar-Ballesteros, Corporate Communications Manager Butch Mendizabal, Documents and Inventory Control Supervisor Myrna Tayongtong, and Marketing Coordinator Khrusty Causing, handed over the donations to Executive Director Roberto Atienza Jr. and Child Welfare Services Director Eunice Guinanoy of the Children’s Shelter of Cebu.

What began as a simple holiday tradition among employees has become a tangible way to support communities in need.

This year, the tradition took the form of a donation of essential goods and hygiene products to the Children’s Shelter of Cebu, a comprehensive orphanage located in Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The contributions were made possible through the proceeds of the company’s annual Virtual Charity Bingo, a long-standing employee-led initiative held every Christmas season at the DMCI Homes Corporate Center in Makati City.

More than just a fundraising activity, the Virtual Charity Bingo reflects the collective spirit of employees who choose to share their blessings beyond the workplace.

Organized by the Human Resources Department, the initiative channels staff enthusiasm into tangible support for communities and institutions year after year.

Close to Home

This year’s beneficiary carries a particularly meaningful connection to DMCI Homes. The Children’s Shelter of Cebu is a neighbor of Kalea Heights, the company’s first residential development in Cebu City.

By supporting an institution so close to home, the outreach becomes both an act of generosity and a gesture of goodwill toward the local community. The shelter provides food, shelter, medical care, education, and counseling to orphaned, surrendered, and abandoned children in Cebu—services that make a lasting difference in the lives of its residents.

The Children’s Shelter of Cebu has been providing homes for orphaned, abandoned, and surrendered children in the Philippines since 1979.

Representing DMCI Homes during the turnover were Cebu Business Unit Head Riza Siasar-Ballesteros, Corporate Communications Manager Butch Mendizabal, Documents and Inventory Control Supervisor Myrna Tayongtong, and Marketing Coordinator Khrusty Causing, who personally handed over the donations to Executive Director Roberto Atienza Jr. and Child Welfare Services Director Eunice Guinanoy of the Children’s Shelter of Cebu.

In recognition of the support, the organization presented DMCI Homes with a Certificate of Appreciation acknowledging the company’s contribution to its mission of providing a loving home and essential services to vulnerable children.

“Through your generosity, you have become a valued partner in sharing God’s love and bringing hope—because every child truly deserves a family,” the certificate, signed by Executive Director Roberto Atienza Jr., read.

Kaakbay sa Pamayanan

For DMCI Homes, building communities goes beyond constructing residential developments. It also means nurturing relationships and contributing to the well-being of the people who live and work around them.

This philosophy is reflected in the company’s “Kaakbay sa Pamayanan” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, which focuses on social welfare and community development initiatives in areas where the company operates.

The Virtual Charity Bingo is part of a tradition of giving that has touched communities nationwide.

Over the years, proceeds have supported a diverse range of beneficiaries, including the Philippine Children’s Medical Center and Gentle Hands, Inc. in 2021public schools in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City in 2022, and the Welfare Action Foundation of Davao, Inc. (Boystown Davao) in 2023—demonstrating the program’s sustained impact across different regions.

Through initiatives like the Virtual Charity Bingo, DMCI Homes continues to show that community building is not limited to physical structures. It is also about fostering compassion, encouraging employee participation, and strengthening ties with neighbors—one shared act of kindness at a time.
