Corporate Communications Manager Butch Mendizabal turns over DMCI Homes’ monetary support for the Bangkal Lokal Program to Barangay Chairman Mario Montañez

DMCI Homes through its “Kaakbay sa Pamayanan” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative recently turned over monetary assistance to Barangay Bangkal, Makati City in support of Bangkal Lokal, a program promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the community.

An initiative of the Barangay Council under Chairman Mario Montañez, the program seeks to promote local goods and services to the community through the use of its own currency.

The Bangkal Lokal currency can be used to pay goods and services offered by over 40 member establishments composed of sari-sari stores, antiques and thrift shops, eateries, online retailers, coffee shops, and other small businesses operating in DMCI Homes headquarters’ host community.

Bangkal Lokal served as one of the highlights of the barangay’s commemoration of the Barangay Administrative and Locals’ Initiative Week from January 17 to 23.

“On behalf of DMCI Homes, I would like to thank the Barangay Bangkal Council for leading this admirable initiative to help MSMEs,” DMCI Homes Corporate Communications Manager Butch Mendizabal said.

“Small businesses like our neighbors in Barangay Bangkal need all the help they can get to recover from the pandemic,” he added.

Apart from being home to DMCI Homes’ main office, Barangay Bangkal is also the host community of Fortis Residences, DMCI Homes’ upscale property along Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

“Kaakbay sa Pamayanan” is DMCI Homes’ CSR initiative which covers issues on social welfare and community development. It is part of DMCI Homes’ umbrella CSR program “Kaakbay” which aims to foster good relations with the communities where the company operates and bring forth social activities beneficial to the Filipino society.
